MASKS
A SHORT FILM IN PRODUCTION
What do you become, when you forget who you are?
A FILM BY GARY FANNIN AND TOBEY ALEXANDER
THE STORY
The weight of
every role we play
Every morning, Ethan dresses for the world. Not in clothes but in faces. The Negotiator. The Peacemaker. The Enthusiast. The Stoic. Masks carefully selected for whoever needs him to be someone he isn't.

But buried at the back of the wardrobe, in a dusty box no one is supposed to find, lies something fractured, the remains of the self he abandoned to survive.
MASKS is an intimate, unflinching portrait of identity performance: the exhaustion of masking, the violence of voices that tell you who to be, and the quiet revolution of choosing, finally, to be no one but yourself.
AT ITS HEART

I
WELCOME
The daily performance of selfhood that so many navigate, the exhausting labour of adapting who you are to what the world demands.
II
identity
What remains of a person when the masks come off? A fractured box. A trembling hand. The terrifying possibility of authenticity.
III
liberation
A single act can be the defining moment of rebellion, or else a collapse into behaviours that bring the world crashing down around us.
